New Delhi, Oct 18: In the ongoing festive season, Northern Railway is sharing the joy of festivities with the passengers by running the festival special trains for the passengers travelling to their native places to celebrate the Pooja festival with their families.
Shobhan Choudhuri, General Manager Northern Railway while interacting with the media persons for festival preparations -2023 at Headquarters Office Baroda House, New Delhi today, apprised that for the convenience of rail travellers and to clear extra rush of passengers during this festive season, Northern Railway is running till date 34 special trains having 377 trips.
In these special trains, a total of 5980 coaches having 1326 General Class, 3328 Sleeper and 2513 AC coaches will be attached to accommodate each class of passenger. Also, augmentation of 152 additional coaches in 69 trains will ensure more seat and berth availability during this festive rush. These special train services will cater to lakhs of passengers who plan to travel to their native place during this festival.
Northern Railway is running 13 special trains having 174 trips while other Railways are also running 21 special trains having 203 trips across the Zone. Special trains have been planned to connect major destinations across the country on railway sectors like Delhi /New Delhi/Anand Vihar Terminal to Patna, Chhapra, Jogwani, Saharsa, Jaynagar ,Katihar, Guwahati, Darbhanga, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Barauni, Raxaul, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Lucknow, Kolkata, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Amritsar, Saharanpur and Ambala etc.
Crowd controlling measures by forming a queue at the terminus stations with the supervision of RPF staff for orderly entry of passengers in unreserved coaches is being ensured. Additional RPF personnel have been deployed in major stations to ensure security of passengers.
“May I Help You” booths are kept operational at important stations where RPF Personnel and TTEs are deputed for proper assistance and guidance of the passengers. All efforts are being done to ensure no change of platform at the last moment.
“Northern railway is committed to provide comfortable, smooth and safe journey to its passengers,” Choudhari said.
