33 bovines rescued, smuggler arrested

SAMBA, Oct 19: District police Samba foiled consecutive attempts to smuggle bovines by rescuing 33 animals and arresting a bovine smuggler in two separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Police Station, (PS) Ghagwal.
A police party of PS Ghagwal, while performing vehicle checking duty at naka NHW, Tapyal intercepted a truck bearing Registration Number, PB06V-8896 which was coming from Kathua side. During checking of the vehicle, 19 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission.
The accused driver identified as Kuldeep Singh, S/o Bachan Singh of Sandhar, Gurdaspur (Punjab) has been arrested on spot. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot. A case FIR No. 116/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
In another similar incident, naka party of PS Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking duty at naka NHW Tapyal signalled a truck bearing Registration Number, JK02BK-0277 to stop which was coming from Kathua side and moving towards Valley. Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated the speed and abandoned it at a few meters distance from naka point and taking advantage of the darkness the driver managed to escape from the spot.
During checking of the vehicle, 14 bovines were found laden inside it without any permission. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was seized on spot.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 117/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
