33 test +ve, J&K tally 776

Srinagar, May 6: A 32-year old man who died in isolation ward of SMHS hospital this evening tested positive tonight for the COVID-19 taking death toll in Kashmir to eight while 33 tested positive for Corona in the Valley today taking the number of COVID-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 776.
Nodal Officer Government Medical College Srinagar, Dr Salim Khan told Excelsior that a 32 year old from Alamgari Bazar in Srinagar died in isolation ward of SMHS hospital. He said that he later tested positive for Coronavirus. He had no other illness and this is such first case in Jammu and Kashmir where Corona had aggressive course.
He said that father of the deceased is admitted to Super-Specialty Hospital Shireen Bagh Srinagar and the man was his attendant. He is the contact of the already Corona positive man who was attendant of a patient in the Super-Specialty Hospital.

Dr Salim said that 878 people were tested for Corona in the GMC laboratory today and out of which 31 tested positive. He said that 18 samples were from Anantnag, however, 7 of them were already Corona positive patients. Eleven from Srinagar tested positive including two attendants of patients admitted to the Super-Specialty hospital Shireen Bagh Srinagar while one each from Kulgam and Ganderbal also tested positive. He said 200 samples are under process in the GMC laboratory.
Medical Superintendent of SKIMS hospital Soura, Dr Farooq Jan, told Excelsior that 1207 tests were conducted at the SKIMS Virologylab and 8 tested positive including 5 from Shopian and 3 from Kupwara.
The Anantnag cases include five women including 24-year-old woman, her 21-year old sister and three other women aged 45,45, 20 years and five men aged 18, 19, 40, 55, 60 years from Kharpora village of the district. The other cases include a 27-year-old man from Amirpora besides an SPO posted in DPL Anantnag. The other cases are from Nowgam Anantnag. Out of 18 cases in Anantnag, 11 are fresh and seven cases are already positive who were re-tested today to establish whether they are still infected or not.
Kulgam case is a 44-year-old woman while case from Ganderbal includes a man from Safapora area. They are both contacts of an attendant at Super-Specialty Hospital Shireen Bagh Srinagar as both of them have their patients admitted there.
Srinagar cases include 2-year-old girl from Habak area, 7 people from Narawara including three girls aged 2, 6 and 11 years, one boy aged 11 years, a 35 year old woman and two men aged 55 and 69 years. Two men from Mallpora Rainawari and one from Kawdara area also tested positive today.
Shopian cases include 20-year-old man from Sheerpora, 24-year-old from Sedew, 28-year-old from Hillow and a 5-year-old girl from Heerpora area.
The Kupwara cases include 60-year old and 18-year-old women from Gunipora and 18-year-old man and an 8-year-old boy from Warpora area.
Out of out of 776 positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir, 445 are active positive, 322 have recovered and nine have died.
Bandipora has 132 positive cases with 69 active, 62 recovered and one death; Anantnag district has 121 positive cases with 108 active, one recovered and one death; Srinagar has reported 125 positive cases with 46 active, 75 recovered and 3 deaths; Baramulla has 104 positive cases with 59 active, 42 recovered, three deaths; Shopian has 89 positive, 64 active, 25 recovered; Kupwara has 69 positive cases with 38 active, 31 recovered, Budgam has 30 positive cases with 18 active and 12 recovered; Ganderbal has 15 positive cases and all but one of them have recovered; Kulgam has 12 positive cases with nine active and 3 recoveries; and Pulwama has 9 positive cases with 6 active and 3 recovered.
Till date, 82367 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance by Government including 14664 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by Government, 213 in Hospital Quarantine, 445 in hospital isolation and 7625 under home surveillance. Besides, 59435 persons have completed their surveillance period.
And as the positive cases are on rise in Kashmir, authorities tightened the lockdown and all previous movement passes were cancelled.
