UDHAMPUR, Mar 8: Udhampur Police rescued 30 bovines and seized two vehicles used for bovine smuggling besides arresting the drivers, here today.
Reports said that team of Police Post Tikri rescued 11 bovines, which were loaded in a vehicle bearing registration number JK02AN-8175. Police also seized the vehicle and arrested its driver, identified as Mohd. Aslam, son of Mohd Hanief of Anantnag.
Another bovine smuggling attempt was foiled when a police team of Police Station Rehambal intercepted another vehicle bearing registration number JK14J -9177 at naka point Phalata. 19 bovines were rescued and driver of the vehicle, identified as Mohd Yaqoob, son of Mohd Sharief of Railway Colony, Udhampur, was arrested on the spot.
In both the cases, FIRs under relevant section of law have been registered in PS Rehambal and further investigation is underway.
