3 Traffic Police officers get clean chit after probe

JAMMU, Oct 13: Three Traffic Police officers, including the then SSP Traffic National Highway, Sanjay Kotwal have been exonerated from the charges of dereliction/ lapses of duty, which led to traffic mismanagement on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on January 20 and 21, 2017.
The Home Department gave clean chit to SSP Sanjay Kotwal, DySP Safdar Hamid Hussain Samoon the then DySP Traffic, NHW and Nihar Ranjan, DySP, the then DySP Traffic NHW, after receiving inquiry report from the IGP, Ahfadul Mujtaba.
The inquiry report said that traffic mismanagement was caused on the Highway due to inclement weather and the officers were not at fault.
It is pertinent to mention here that incident of traffic mismanagement took place in Ramban sector on January 20-21, 2017. The Home Department ordered probe vide Govt order No. 148-Home of 2018 dated 05-02-2018. The then IGP Armed, Ahfadul Mujtaba was appointed as inquiry officer by the Govt.
After the lapse of so much time, the inquiry was completed and case closed. The Principal Secretary Home, Shaleen Kabra vide Govt order No. 1021-Home of 2019, dated 11-10-2019 exonerated these Traffic Police officers of the charges.
