SAMBA, May 17: District police Samba foiled bovine smuggling bid after arresting three bovine smugglers and rescuing 19 bovines at Basanter river bed near Nud, Samba.
Acting on reliable information received at Police Station Samba regarding smuggling of bovines by foot through Basanter river towards Srinagar, a police party of PS Samba laid a special naka at Basanter river bed near Nud and arrested three bovine smugglers who were trying to smuggle 19 bovines by foot towards Valley.
The accused persons have been identified as Mam Hussain, S/o Shamasdin, Liaquat Ali S/o Keema, Ashiq Ali, S/o Lasso all residents of Rakh Barotian, Vijaypur. They were arrested on spot. All the 19 cattles were rescued and shifted to safer places.
A case FIR No. 129/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act registered at P/S Samba and investigation taken up.
