UDHAMPUR, Feb 26: Three labourers were found dead inside a tent in Chenani area of district Udhampur this morning.
Police sources said that all the three namely- Balvinder Chand (28 yrs), son of Chain Chand, resident of Ward No. 8 Chenani; Sonu (25), son of Pattu Ram, resident of Jagir Khetar (Chenani) and Anil Kumar (23), son of Nanak Chand, resident of Kalori (Ward 8) Chenani, were engaged by a private company for the construction of power transmission towers in Chenani area. The three were found dead inside a tent at a hilltop in Katheer-Gatwal village.
A police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Sheikh Tahir Amin along with SHO Chenani Anil Kumar Sharma and Forensic Science Laboratory experts visited the scene and shifted the bodies to Chenani hospital for autopsy.
“The exact cause of death will be known only after the post mortem which is being conducted by a board of doctors,” the DySP said.
He said there were no injury marks on the bodies, suggesting they may have died in their sleep, possibly by consuming something or due to asphyxia, the officer said.
However, the family members have alleged murder and demanded fair investigation. The SDPO said that police was investigating into the matter.
