3 killed in road mishaps

JAMMU, Jan 14: Three people died and one sustained injuries in two separate road accidents in Jammu district today.

A police official said a Celerio and a Baleno car collided with each other on the Ring Road at Sohanjana village of Phallain Mandal area around 2 pm yesterday.
In the collision of vehicles, three people-the Celerio car occupants, Mohit Bharti and a young woman, Elish, and a Baleno car occupant, Happy Kesar of Marh-sustained injuries, he said.
“The injured were swiftly taken to PHC Sohanjana, from where they were later referred to Government Medical College Jammu, where two of them, Mohit Bharti and Elish, succumbed to their injuries,” said the police official, adding that the injured youth, Happy Kesar, is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the law and started investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, a teenage girl died after a Thar vehicle she was travelling in collided with a road divider near Mahamaya Temple Morh today.
“Around 6:30 am, a Thar vehicle driven by one Rudra Choudhary (22) son of Sanjeev Choudhary of Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, collided with a divider near Mahamaya Temple Morh, Jammu, resulting in the death of a teenage girl, Ayaanya Gupta (15-16) daughter of Rohit Gupta of Channi Himmat, Jammu, on-the-spot,” a police official said, adding that the driver escaped unhurt.
He said two other people travelling in the vehicle, identified as Yograj Sharma son of Kamal Sharma of Nanak Nagar Jammu and Kavya Charak daughter of Major Singh of Channi Himmat, also escaped unhurt.
A case in this connection under the relevant sections of the law has been registered at Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station and further investigation taken up.
