UDHAMPUR, July 8: A father and his daughter were among three persons killed and five others critically injured when a Maruti car, carrying them, slipped into a deep gorge near Dharmthal area of Chenani tehsil, here this evening.
The Maruti car, bearing registration number JK02M-0896, was on its way from Panchari to Chenani when it met with the accident, resulting into the death of three passengers on spot. The deceased were identified as Nitu Devi, daughter of Joginder Kumar of Nagulta, Kapoor Chand, son of Pathan, resident of Pul Mada, and his daughter Rimy Devi.
Police and security forces, deployed on the National Highway in connection with the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, rushed to the spot and evacuated all the injured to the nearby District Hospital Udhampur. SHO Chenani Mahesh Sharma informed that all the injured persons had multiple injuries.
The injured, admitted in District Hospital Udhampur, were identified as Sanjay Kumar, son of Duni Chand of Noti Chenani, his brothers Raj Kumar and Joginder Kumar, Bindhu Devi, daughter of Mool Chand of Mada and Balbir Kumar son of Thakur Dass of Mada.
