3 JU faculty members selected under LEAP

JAMMU, Feb 22: Three faculty members from University of Jammu (JU) are participating in the three-week “Leadership of Academicians Program (LEAP)” from February 24.
Prof Rajni Dhingra (Department of Home Science) and Prof Meena Sharma (Department of Chemistry) under this programme are visiting to IIT Bombay and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, whereas Prof Jasbir Singh (Department of Economics) is attending this programme at IIT, BHU, Varanasi and Penn State University, Pennsylvania, USA.
Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor (VC), University of Jammu said that it is a proud moment for University of Jammu in particular and the J&K state in general that University of Jammu stands among 15 NIRF top ranked Indian Institutions which has been selected for such prestigious programme. The foreign universities identified for the training are also within the top 100 in the world global rankings, he added.
The VC hoped that the programme would provide senior faculty, with high academic credentials, the required leadership and managerial skills including skills of problem-solving, handling stress, team building work, conflict management, developing communication skills, understanding and coping with the complexity and challenges of governance in higher education institutions, financial and general administration.
Prof Dhar said that the LEAP (Leadership for Academicians Programme) launched by Prakash Javadekar, Union Human Resource Development Minister, Government of India is a three-week flagship leadership development training programme (two-week domestic and one-week foreign training) for academic heads, who are potentially likely to assume leadership roles in the future.
He further said that such programmes are surely a game changer and the faculty members selected under this programme will surely benefit and the advantages of it will definitely percolate to the young faculty Scholars and students of the University.
