Army has intensified operations along the LoC in North Kashmir after reports of increased attempts of infiltration by militants from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) into Kashmir.
Army says large numbers of militants are waiting on the launch pads for infiltration into Kashmir in PoK and attempts of infiltration have increased.
They say that militant commanders in PoK are desperate to infiltrate more and more militants into Kashmir before the onset of winter as this year security forces achieved major successes against them by killing 103 militants in Kashmir valley which is the highest in recent years.
Army says the infiltration of militants from PoK into Kashmir this year has increased. According to Multi Agency Centre (MAC) figures, this year 56 militants have infiltrated into Kashmir till July while last year only 36 had infiltrated.
Security forces operation against militants in Kashmir has taken back seat during 44 days of unrest in which 65 protests were killed and thousands injured. Yesterday security forces had to call off an operation in which they had trapped 3-4 militants in a village in Baramulla as they faced tough resistance from locals who threw stones at them and helped militants to escape.
