POONCH, Oct 25: The police arrested three persons and recovered fake currency worth Rs 22,500 from their possession.
A senior police official told the Excelsior that three persons were taking dinner at Star Hotel in Poonch city last night. One of them offered Rs 500 currency note to the hotel owner. The owner refused to accept it telling that it was fake. He gave yet another note of the same denomination and that was also not accepted by hotel owner. On this there was some tiff between the hotel owner and three customers.
Two police men in civil were also taking food at the hotel and they intervened. They also found that notes were not genuine. Then they contacted police station and all the three were arrested and taken to Thana. The police parties then raided the houses of these persons and recovered Rs 22,500. They were in the form of Rs 500 denomination.
The police registered a case FIR No. 169/2012 and formally arrested all the three. They were identified as Parvez Ahmed, son of Abdul Aziz, resident of Seri Chuana, Parvez Ahmed junior, son of Mohd Akbar, resident of Seri Chuana and Mohd Ishfaq, son of Mohd Akram, resident of Potha in Surankote. The police was looking into their connections and it believed that they might be connected with the fake currency operatives on the other side of the Line of Control. Further investigation was in progress. Police was trying to find out the sources of this fake currency.
