“We had conducted search operations for three days on last Sunday also and today we got inputs on the basis of which we conducted searches and made recovery of the three grenades and 54 rounds”, he added.
The SSP said the searches will also continue in the area as it has been an old route for infiltration. Police is also investigating the matter and it can’t be ruled out that the grenades might have been left by militants who were spotted in the area earlier by the people.
It may be recalled that on the basis of inputs that some suspects were seen in the area late last month and early this month both Kathua and Samba police along with jawans of SOG and security forces had conducted raids at different places in Hiranagar area of Kathua district and Samba border belt along the National Highway. However nothing was recovered during these raids.
