3 drug peddlers arrested in Srinagar, Kulgam

SRINAGAR, Apr 30: Police today in a series of actions in Srinagar and Kulgam have arrested 3 drug peddlers and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In Srinagar, police said, acting on specific information, officers in the jurisdiction of PS Shaheed Gunj arrested two drug peddlers identified as Ajaz Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Jabbar Sheikh resident of Alochibagh and Danish Bilal son of Bilal Ahmad Najar resident of Old Barzulla. 270gms of charas has been recovered from their possession.
“They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 31/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at PS Shaheed Gunj and investigation has been taken up,” police said.
In Kulgam, acting on specific information regarding drug dealings within the Jurisdiction of PP Mirbazar, a police party headed by I/C PP Mirbazar under the supervision of SDPO Qazigund established a checkpoint at Alstop signalled a suspicious person to stop.
“However, he tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by the alert Police party. He has been identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Gani Dar resident of Gassipora Wanpoh,” police said.
Police said that during checking, officers were able to recover 15grams of Heroin from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
