06JAMMU, Sept 5: Three people drowned in the canal at Sehora and Paloura areas of this District falling under the jurisdictions of Gangyal and Domana Police Stations.
Harjeet Singh (42) son of Jaswant Singh slipped into canal at Sehora area near Ravi Dass Temple on Monday night.
After his family approached the police on Tuesday morning, a team of Gangyal Police Station swung into action and retrieved the body of the deceased from the banks of the canal around 9:30 am today, officials said.
Meanwhile, two bodies were recovered from the canal at Paloura area of the District by Police Station Domana today.
Officials said family of one Darshan Lal (55) son of Chuni Lal of Lower Barnai had lodged a missing report at Police Station Domana on Monday night, fearing Darshan’s drowning in the canal.
Acting on the written complaint, a team of Police Station Domana assisted by SDRF and locals started a search operation today and recovered the body of Darshan Lal from the banks of the canal at Paloura around 1:30 am.
Another body of one Sumit Kumar son of Pawan of Udheywala, Jammu, who went missing on September 3, 2023, was recovered from the canal at Paloura area around 2 pm today.
Family of Sumit Kumar had also lodged a missing report with the Police Station Gangyal.
Bodies of all the deceased have also been shifted to the mortuary of the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for conducting the post-mortem while as inquest proceedings have also been initiated at Gangyal and Domana Police Stations to further probe the matters.
