3 die of COVID, 174 test +ve

JAMMU/SRINAGAR /LEH, Aug 16: Three persons died of COVID-19 and 174 tested positive for virus in Jammu and Kashmir during past two days.
Two casualties have been reported in Jammu region and one in Kashmir division.
A 56-year-old woman hailing from village Rakh Mangal Chak in Samba district died of COVID-19 and co-morbidities at Fortis Hospital Amritsar in Punjab today while an 85-year-old man from Koteranka Kandi in Rajouri district succumbed to the virus and ailments in the Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri yesterday.
While 21 COVID positive cases were reported in the Jammu region yesterday, 23 were recorded today.
Out of today’s 23 cases, eight were reported from Rajouri, six Doda, four each in Jammu and Udhampur and one in Samba district.
Kathua, Kishtwar, Poonch, Ramban and Reasi districts didn’t report any COVID positive cases today.
Among yesterday’s 21 cases, eight were recorded in Doda, four Jammu, three Rajouri, two each in Kishtwar and Poonch and one each in Ramban and Reasi districts. No cases were registered in rest of the districts.
Today, 48 persons recovered from the virus while the numbers yesterday were 45.
Jammu region now has 1,22,546 Corona cases. Among them, 455 are active positives while 1,19,933 have recovered from the virus and there have been 2158 casualties.
Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Ladakh today reported six fresh COVID positive cases, all in Leh district.
Ladakh now has 82 active positive cases.
Meanwhile, Kashmir reported 54 COVID-19 cases today while 76 cases were reported yesterday.
Those who positive today include 14 from Srinagar, 12 from Baramulla, 8 from Budgam, 3 from Pulwama, 2 from Kupwara, 2 from Anantnag, 6 from Bandipora and 7 from Ganderbal.
Srinagar reported 28 cases yesterday, Baramulla 2, Budgam 10, Pulwama 5, Kupwara 3, Bandipora 4, Ganderbal 11, Kulgam 11 and Shopian 2.
As per officials figures, 71,836 positive cases including 834 deaths and 70,706 recoveries are from Srinagar, 23,770 including 282 deaths and 23,408 recoveries are from Baramulla, 23,031 including 22,742 recoveries and 206 deaths are from Budgam, 15,263 including 15,030 recoveries and 194 deaths are from Pulwama, 14,156 including 166 deaths and 13,954 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,376 including 16,135 recoveries and 205 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,562 cases including 9,408 and 100 deaths are from Bandipora, 10,031 including 9,885 recoveries and 78 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,337 including 11,183 recoveries and 117 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,591 including 5,527 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 200,953 including 197,978 recoveries and 2,240 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,229 including 735 from Kashmir division.
With 135 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 317,872, which is 98.26 percent of the total cases.
