3 defunct Cooperative Banks to be made functional soon: Dorjey

JAMMU, Nov 27: Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs Chering Dorjay today said efforts are underway to make the Cooperative Department people-friendly so that weaker sections of the society can benefit from it to the optimum.
The Minister said this at a function organized to felicitate the participants and functionaries of the Cooperative Department for their performance during the recently held Cooperative Week Celebrations.
While addressing the gathering, the Minister said that Government is making conscious efforts to increase the accessibility of the department to the general public. He further informed the gathering that three defunct Cooperative Banks will be soon made functional.
Member Parliament, Jugal Kishore Sharma while speaking on the occasion, invited suggestions from functionaries so as to increase participation in cooperative sector especially in rural area.
Sharma also stressed on increased involvement of youth in department schemes and initiatives so that they generate employment for themselves and for others. He also put stress on increasing awareness about these schemes among local population.
He said that Central Government is taking keen interest in growth and development of cooperative sector for which every possible help will be provided.
Among others, Managing Director JAKFED Bilal Ahmad Bhat, Chairman JKCCL Mohinder Singh, Retired Agriculture Director  DP Khajuria, Chairman Nandpur Milk Producers Babu Ram, Joint Registrar JKRCS Dr R K Thappa, General Manager Super Bazar Giri, Tajinder Singh Wazir, Deputy Registrar Agriculture Jammu Naresh Kumar, Chairman J&K Housing Corporation V K Magoo, Chairman Cooperative School Balbir Singh Manhas, Chairman Budhal Cooperative Institute of Education Farooq Inqilabi, Chairman Dhodhi Gujjar Association Ali Mohammad Chichee, Major General Goverdhan Singh Jamwal were felicitated at the function.
Registrar J&K Cooperative Bashir Ahmad, Additional Registrar Anjana Tikkoo, Chairman Cooperative Union Rajesh Sharma, Chairman JKCCB Mohinder Singh besides other dignitaries and officials of the department were also present.
