3-day Zonal RRC for Surgery PGs from North India concludes at GMC Jammu

JAMMU, Sept 17: The three-day-long Zonal Regional Refresher Course (RRC) for Postgraduate Students of Surgery from North India concluded today at Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu.
The Event was organized successfully by J&K Chapter of ASI (JAKASI) in collaboration with Postgraduate Department of Surgery. On day one “Hands on Surgical Skills Workshop for Surgery Residents” inaugurated by Principal GMC Jammu, Prof Ashutosh Gupta in presence of galaxy of surgeons from J&K namely Prof Nasib Chand Digra, Prof Tariq Azad, Prof RK Chrungoo, Prof SL Kachroo, Prof Ratnakar Sharma, Prof Ajaz Malik, Prof Ajaz Rather, many other faculty and senior residents.
Prof Sanjay Kumar Bhasin who is chairman (president) of the JAKASI and chief organizer of the event told that RRC that on first day module of Hands on Training, 118 PGs and 30 faculty from J&K, HP, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, UP and Uttrakhand participated.
He further informed that on 16th and 17th September, 16 top PGs from Zone-6 of ASI were subjected to MS Patter exam on 16 different long cases by 46 ASI National Faculty and finally top four PGs from Zone-6 were awarded today during valedictory function wherein Dr Tahir Bashir Dar from SKIMDS-MC bagged first position, Dr Gabra Preeti Jaswant from MAMC Delhi bagged 2nd position and Dr Neetu Jamwal (GMC Jammu) as well as Dr Mandil Bhanu Yadav (AIIMS New Delhi) bagged joint third position.
The awards were presented during valedictory function wherein Prof Ashutosh Gupta was the chief guest while Prof HL Goswami (former HoD Surgery and Principal GMC Jammu) was the special guest and National Secretary of ASI, Dr Pratap Varute was guest of honour.
Prof Ashutosh Gupta in his concluding remarks stressed for conduct of such more unique teaching training modules and offered all help and support for the same.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof (Dr) Sanjay Kumar Bhasin while the stage was managed by Dr Zaffer Saleem Khanday (secretary JAKASI).
