3-day workshop on techniques of drama concludes

Jammu, Apr 20: Three day workshop on techniques of drama organized by Department of Hindi, University of Jammu concluded today. The workshop was run under the guidance of Deepak, a well known theatre artist of Jammu.
On the last day of workshop, theatrical performance of some poems was made. Sharing their experiences of the workshop Rajni and Mehnaj of Hindi Department said that they were taught how to lead life practically in a society and how to view drama in the content of society. Chanpreet Kour of Punjabi Department said that it was an interesting event. For the first time they experienced drama practically and involved themselves emotionally and theatrically. Kamal Kumar of English Department said that they learned basics of drama and came to know what actor is and how he acts in a drama.
Earlier, in inaugural session Dr.Parvinder Kour welcomed the audience and eminent poet, critic and play write Dr.Narinder Mohan from Delhi said that drama is a complex genre that completes itself with playwright, director, actors and audience. He shared his own experience of the time when theatrical performance of his two dramas was banned. He expressed his concern about falling standard of drama criticism.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr.Baljit Raina talked about different styles of drama. Prof. Pankaj Shrivastava Director Students Welfare Department of Jammu University delivered a presidential address. Sunil Saleda, a research scholar compered the programme, while Ashok Kumar a teacher of the Department presented vote of thanks.
