3-day intensive awareness initiative ‘Clean Jammu-Clean Tawi’ commences

JAMMU, May 21: Three day intensive awareness initiative ‘Clean Jammu-Clean Tawi’ #Hero4Tawi commenced today, in which thousands of students, volunteers, officers and officials of civil and Police Department, members of civil society, doctors and artists took part at Parade Ground.
The initiative is conceived by Bharti Vaid Chairperson Jammu and Kashmir Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA).
Sat Sharma, Minister for Housing and Urban Development, J&K was the chief guest, while Rajesh Gupta, MLA Jammu East and B B Vyas, Chief Secretary, J&K were the guests of honour. Director General of Police (DGP) Dr SP Vaid was the presiding guest on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that Chairperson PWWA Bharti Vaid has taken a great initiative to aware people regarding the importance and necessity of cleanliness in the society, surroundings in general and Jammu, River Tawi in particular. He said that River Tawi has a religious significance for the people of Jammu and it is our duty to keep it clean.
On the occasion, Chairperson PWWA Bharti Vaid presented the welcome address.
PWWA member Esther William administered the pledge to the participants for not using plastic in their daily use and to keep Jammu city and River Tawi clean.
In the end, Chairman Organising Committee Shafqat Watali, IGP Armed Kashmir presented the vote of thanks.
Later, Sat Sharma, Minister for Housing and Urban Development alongwith Rajesh Gupta, MLA Jammu East, BB Vyas, Chief Secretary, J&K, Dr SP Vaid, DGP, Hemant Kumar Sharma, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu and Bharti Vaid, Chairperson PWWA flagged off the bike rally from the Parade Ground.
After flagging off the bike rally, the walk for Tawi started from Parade Ground which concluded at Hari Singh Park. Hundreds of students holding placards, beating drums, chanting slogans alongwith teachers, members of civil society, PWWA and officers and officials of civil and police department took part in the walk.
