JAMMU, July 10: ‘Alvida Diabetes’, a three-day programme on diabetes was inaugurated today by Health Minister, Choudhary Lal Singh in conference hall of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu.
The programme was organized by Brahma Kumaris, BC Road, Jammu. Inaugurating the first phase of the programme, the Health Minister, who was the chief guest on the occasion, threw light on various health related habits. He stressed on awakening from sleep before sunrise, adding those habitual of sleeping after sunrise could not remain healthy.
Dr Shreemant Sahu, Diabetologist from Global Hospital, Mount Abu, Rajasthan, also spoke on the occasion. Speaking about diabetes, he said that diabetes has spread like a dreaded disease among the people and about 38 crore people are affected with it in India. He said that obesity gives rise to this disease. He also made the participants to do exercise on low music.
Dr Ghanshan Dev Gupta, Principal and Dean, GMCH, also attended the programme as a guest of honour.
