3 cops attached in woman’s death

MENDHAR, Jan 5: SP Poonch, Shamsheer Hussain attached an Assistant Sub Inspector, a Head Constable and a Selection Grade Constable (SGC), in connection with their dubious role in the mysterious missing and death of woman whose body was recovered from a nallah in Mendhar area on Saturday. The Additional DC Poonch Arvinder Sharma will head the Magisterial Inquiry into the case.
A police spokesman said that ASI Murtaza Mirza, Head Constable –Mohd Shafiq Khan and SGC Mohd Alias Khan from Mendhar Police Station have been attached for their dubious role in connection with the mysterious missing of young house wife Shaheen Akhtar, wife of Samiullah resident of Bera in Mendhar. The woman was missing since December 13 and her dead body was recovered near abridge in Mendhar area. The police alleged that due to negligence on the part of police the woman met this fate. The people held massive protest demonstration in the town here yesterday demanding action against members of in-laws family.
On the public demand and massive anger against concerned police, the SP attached three cops. ASP Poonch and Amit Gupta, ADPO Azim Qureshi and SHO Mendhar Bishnesh Kumar today started fresh probe into the case and also examined spot and met the members of girl’s family. They also recorded statements of several people.
Meanwhile, on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Poonch Sajjad Ahmed Khan, ADC Poonch Arvind Sharma, assisted by AC Revenue Shafiq Ahmed and Naib Tehsildar ( Ist Class Magistrate) Mendhar Shahzad Latief, today started Magisterial Inquiry into the case. The Committee has been asked to submit the report within one week.
The police has already arrested, husband of the deceased, her two brothers-in-law, Asadullah and Mehtab Bhat, their father ( Retd Head Master Abdul Hai), his wife Zarina and daughter- Nazia in connection with the death of Shaheen Akhtar. A case Fir No. 2/2014 has also been registered in this connection.
