SAMBA, July 23: Four people, including three children and a woman, were killed in a tragic road accident while 15 others were injured some of them seriously when a Tata Magic Vehicle (Auto) going in the wrong direction collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction on the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway here, late last night.
The injured persons were admitted in District Hospital Samba. Among them, seven who had suffered serious injuries were referred to GMC Jammu. Among the dead and injured are children and women who are relatives among themselves.
According to the information, family of Tarseem Lal and his relatives were going in an Auto bearing Registration Number JK-21A-2268 from Mandal village of Purmandal, Samba to Rakh Amb in the same district to participate in a function to be held before the marriage of Tarsem’s niece residing at Rakh Amb.

At around 11:30 pm last night, when the Auto reached near the Pandit Prem Nath Dogra, New Bus Stand of Samba, the driver tried to turn the auto towards the wrong direction and it hit with a truck coming from the Punjab side.
The impact of the accident was so grave that four people died on the spot and 15 others were injured, while seven of them were serious. Tarsem Lal’s two children Muskan and Rahul were also among the dead, while Tarsem’s wife Neha is seriously injured. There was chaos at the spot due to the accident. The injured were immediately rushed to the District Hospital in Samba. After first -aid, seven injured were referred to GMC for better treatment.
The deceased have been identified: 40-year-old Suman Devi wife of Shiv Dayal, eight-year-old Rahul, son of Tarsem Lal, five-year-old Muskaan daughter of Tarsem Lal and five-year-old Krish son of Ramesh Lal.
The injured included Geeta Devi, 70, wife of Shiv Kumar, Meenakshi, 12, daughter of Gopal Das, Veena Devi, 40, wife of Raj Kumar, Usha Devi, 42, wife of Krishna Lal, Rekha Devi, 35, wife of Ram Lal, Neha 26, wife of Tarsem Lal, Geeta Devi, 34, wife of Ramesh Lal, Ritika, 7, Jyoti Devi 30, wife of Jagannath, Garo Devi, 48, wife of Raj Kumar, Jatto Devi, 70, wife of Shiva Ram, Champa Devi, 58, wife of Ashok Kumar, Aarushi, 15, daughter of Shiv Dayal, Neha Devi also daughter of Shiv Dayal and Shani Devi, 40, wife of Chet Ram.
Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Anuradha Gupta reached the District Hospital, Samba to inquire about the condition of the injured and also assured that all possible help would be given to them. She said that seriously injured have been referred to GMC Jammu for better treatment.
