Srinagar, July 16: Cracking down on illegal mining and transportation of minerals, police today seized three vehicles and arrested three drivers, including a resident of Punjab, in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
According to authorities, a police party under the supervision of SDPO Kreeri, assisted by SHO Kreeri, seized three vehicles-two tractors and an excavator-and arrested three drivers involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Harnow Kreeri, Baramulla.
The drivers have been identified as Sajad Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohd Assadullah, resident of Allapora; Bilal Ahmad Lone, son of Abdul Khaliq, resident of Harnow; and Jitender Singh, son of Balveer Singh, resident of Punjab.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Kreeri and an investigation has been initiated.
“Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per the law,” the police stated.
