2nd edition of Ladakh Literature Festival begins

Leh, Dec 10: The second edition of Ladakh Literature Festival with the theme of “Ladakh at the Crossroads” was virtually inaugurated by the Lieutenant Governor UT Ladakh, R K Mathur here today.
CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Feroze Ahmad Khan, MP Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgial, Dy. CEC, LAHDC Leh Tsering Angchuk, EC Agriculture, Stanzin Chosphel, EC Rural Tashi Namgyal, EC Minorities Ghulam Medhi, Commissioner Secretary Tourism, Rigzin Samphel, Director Tourism, Kunzes Angmo, Assistant Director Tourism Jigmet Namgial, Executive Director, LAMO Dr Monisha Ahmad, Ordained Dharmacharya Teacher Shantum Seth, Author James Crowden, former AD Tourism, Kargil, Ex-Director CIBS, Executive members of ALTOA and AKTTA, and prominent local scholars, writers and artists virtually attended the inaugural session.
Speaking on the occasion CEC Kargil Feroz Ahmad said that such type of platform will provide opportunity for the local talented persons and also help to boost the tourism industry in the Union Territory. He further stated that with the participation of expert speakers of National and International there is a good opportunity to know more history, literature and other heritage places of Ladakh to the people at abroad and wthin the nation as well.
He requested the Tourism Department to celebrate such events in Kargil district in coming years and also appreciated the team who were involved in organising such events in Ladakh.
Member Parliament, Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal said that LLF will encourage the young generation of Ladakh to think over such fields like literature, heritage, arts & culture. He also said that Ladakh is a multi-culture and has a number of tribes & identity that has made Ladakh a very popular tourist destination of the world and he expected to promote that Ladakh as a hub of wisdom, harmony and peace.
Deputy Chairman LAHDC Leh Tsering Angchuk also spoke on the occasion and said that the LLF will help highlight the unique cultural heritage of Ladakh and stressed on the need to continue it with the participation of students.
Earlier, Commissioner/ Secretary Tourism, Rigzin Samphel gave details about the three day programme and stated that such events will hold great significance for both Leh and Kargil districts in UT Ladakh.
General Secretary ALTOA, Deleks Namgyal, President AKTTA, Author of Frozen River, James Crowden, Former AD Tourism Kargil, Mohd. Hussain, Former Director CBIS, Nawang Tsering, Ordained Dharmacharya Teacher, Shantum Seth, Director LAMO, Dr. Monisha Ahmad also spoke on the occasion.
