NEW DELHI, July 21:
As many as 295 family courts are presently functional in various states of the country, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
In a written reply, Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said it was mandatory for every state to set up at least one family court in a city/town with a population of more than 10 lakh. Every district should have at least one family court, the Minister told the House, adding that state Governments and/or the Union Territories administration were periodically requested for ensuring at least one family court in each of the districts.
