JAMMU, July 25: On the 24th day of yatra today, 2,830 pilgrims performed darshan at holy cave of Swami Amarnath situated at an altitude of 13000 feet in deep Himalayas in South Kashmir district of Anantnag.
With this, the total number of pilgrims paying obeisance in the cave shrine since the 48 day long yatra started on July 2 has reached 2,05,330.
According to an official spokesman the yatra is proceeding smoothly from both the tracks i.e, the shortest Baltal track and the traditional Chandanwari track. He said however, there is lot of decline in yatra rush due to Kashmir unrest.
The spokesman said the majority of pilgrims who performed the darshan at holy cave since July 2 have returned to their home states while others are on their way. He said the pilgrims who paid obeisance at cave shrine today have also started their return journey towards Baltal and Pahalgam base camps. But the pilgrims who performed darshan late in the evening will have a night halt at holy cave and leave for base camps early tomorrow morning.
He said the pilgrims who were camping at holy cave during the night left this morning for base camps. While those who left via Baltal track have reached the base camp and those who left via Panchtarni-Sheshnag track were on their way.
The spokesman said 1,110 pilgrims left for holy cave from Chandanwari this morning. Out of them 685 left from Nunwan Pahalgam Base Camp. Besides 26 pilgrims left via Chopper.
He said 323 pilgrims returned to Pahalgam after darshan today by foot while 44 returned by air. Seventy two pilgrims are camping at Nunwan camp for night, he added.
He said 933 pilgrims left from Baltal to holy cave this morning while 1100 reached from Jammu to Baltal, early this morning. He said one pilgrim was injured after a fall from horse and he was rushed to Bone and Joint Hospital Barzulla, Badgam for treatment. His name could not be ascertained as yet.
He said the weather was pleasant during the day on both the tracks as well as holy cave.
Meanwhile, 1079 pilgrims left from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas here for the holy cave under tight security arrangements in a cavalcade of 28 vehicles and all these pilgrims were on their way to two base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam where from, they will leave for holy cave early tomorrow morning.
As per weather forecast for tomorrow there will be rain showers from Jammu to Banihal in the early morning tomorrow while there will be light rain from Banihal to Pahalgam and Banihal to holy cave during night.
