JAMMU, Aug 1: The annual pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine in the South Kashmir Himalayas completed one month today with over 3.18 lakh pilgrims paying obeisance till date. The Yatra is expected to cross 3.5 lakh mark as 28 days are still left for its culmination on August 29.
According to the official figures, a total of 3,18,037 pilgrims have paid obeisance at the Holy Cave from July 2 till August 1 and 2753 yatris performed darshan today.
Moreover, fresh batch of 417 pilgrims left for pilgrimage from Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp here today. This batch includes 288 male, 80 female, 3 children and 47 Sadhus. There was much enthusiasm among the pilgrims despite being aware of the fact that they would reach the cave shrine after arduous trek through the mountains.
Officials said that yatra is likely to cross 3.5 lakh mark as 28 days are still left for the culmination of pilgrimage on August 29.
