JAMMU, Mar 28: A total of 254 posts of different categories of the School Education Department have been lying vacant in the Kargil district.
This information was provided by the Minister of State for Education, Feroz Ahmad Khan while replying to the calling attention notice of the National Conference MLA and former Minister, Qamar Ali Akhoon in the Legislative Assembly today.
Though 254 posts——eight of Principals, 16 of Headmasters, 62 of Lecturers, 118 of Masters and 50 teachers have been lying vacant in the district, the temporary arrangements have been made by assigning charge of the officers for smooth functioning of the institutes”, the Minister said, adding the vacant posts of Principals, Headmasters and Masters in district will be filled up shortly by making placement of eligible officers. Besides, he said, 50 vacant posts of teachers will be filled up by District Recruitment Board, Kargil soon.
He said that recently 581 posts of Lectures under direct quota in various disciplines have been referred to the J&K Public Service Commission for selection of suitable candidates. In order to ensure smooth functioning of the Higher Secondary Schools till the vacancies are filled up on regular basis, services of un-employed Post Graduate youth have also been hired on academic arrangement basis after inviting applications from eligible candidates and observing all codal formalities so that the academic activities in the schools may not hamper, said the Minister.
