UDHAMPUR, Mar 22: Continuing its drive against smuggling of narcotics and psychotropic substance, Police Party of Police Station Udhampur today apprehended a drug peddler and seized 25 kg of poppy straw, which was being smuggled by the accused in a truck.
Based on specific information, Police Team of PS Udhampur, led by SHO Chanchal Singh , under the supervision of Sahil Mahajan, DySP Hqrs Udhampur, laid a naka at Jakhani Chowk, National Highway and intercepted a Truck bearing registration number HP62A-0703.
During thorough search, 25 kg of poppy straw like substance was recovered from the truck. The truck driver, identified as Mohd Shafi, son of Gulam Hussain of village Sunder Chak, Pathankot Punjab, was arrested on the spot and the seized poppy straw as well as the truck was also seized.
In this connection, case FIR number 108/2021, under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Udhampur.
