24301 new accounts opened under PMJDY

POONCH, Jan 29: To review the performance of various banks and Government agencies for third quarter of the financial year 2014-2015, District Development Commissioner (DDC), Poonch, M H Malik chaired District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting.
Appreciating the banks for implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) by opening 24301 new accounts in the district, DDC stressed on 100% financial inclusion under the scheme.
While reviewing the performance under various Government sponsored schemes he asked the banks to ensure that all bottlenecks are removed and also advised banks to have a speedy disposal of all the cases in a time bound manner. He further stressed upon the need for financial literacy and instructed all banks and Government agencies to hold awareness camps to make people aware regarding various schemes and programmes of the Government.
Earlier, the Lead Bank Manager informed the meeting that banks in the district are having deposits of Rs1597.43 crores and advances of Rs 337.48 crore.
It was also informed that under PMJDY 24301 accounts have been opened by different banks and during the quarter banks have organized 93 awareness camps in different areas of the district.
The meeting was attended by Lead District Manager, Mohd Shafi Ayaz, Deputy Director Employment, Mohd Ashraf Chowdhary, AD Handloom, Shazia Koser, Cluster Head J&K Bank, Gh. Jeelani and Director JKBRSETI Poonch, Ayoub Ahmed.
