24 members of engagement party injured in road mishap

KATHUA, Feb 11: Twenty four people of an engagement party were injured after the matador in which they were traveling rolled down on the road and fell into 50 feet deep gorge this afternoon at Janoo on Bani-Basohli road 30 kms away from Basohli.
According to police out of 24 injured seven are serious and they were shifted to GMC Jammu for treatment while others were admitted in SDH Basohli.
The driver and conductor of the ill fated matador fled after the accident and police has launched manhunt to arrest them.
A case under the relevant Sections of the law has been registered against the two. The matador bearing number JK08B-9978 was on its way from Basohli to Sheetal Nagri on Bani road to attend the ring ceremony function. All the inmates were the relatives and on their return the driver lost the control on the steering with the result the vehicle turned turtle and fell down in a 50 feet deep gorge resulting into the injuries to all inmates of the matador.
The injured have been identified Ratto Devi wife of Meenka of Jandrali, Annu Devi daughter of Ramesh Chander of Toonda, Darshan Devi wife of Ramesh Kumar also of Toonda, Palki Devi wife of Krishan Kumar of Batada, Krishan Chand son of Kanshi Ram of Godal, Nishu Devi, wife of Darshan Kumar of Batada, Koshal Kumar son of Sham Lal, Pawan Kumar son of Neelam Kumar and Neelam Kumar son of Chanda all of Batada,  Rohit Mehra son of Kishore Kumar of Ward No 1, Basholi, Anju Devi, daughter of Hans Raj of Dodla, Reetu Devi daughter of Neelam Kumar, Kiran Bala wife of Kartar Chand, Neelam Kumar son of Bhagat Ram and Kaka son of Neelam all residents of Batada, Susma daughter of Rakesh Kumar of Palai, Kajal Devi daughter of Bittu Ram of Sanganghal, Meenku Ram son of Mangu Ram of Janda, Ramesh Kumar son of Darshan Kumar of Batada, Reshma daughter of Jagtu of Batada and Mohinder son of Ishru of Sanganghat.
The FIR No 15/2016 was registered in Basohli Police Station in this regard.
