SAMBA, Jan, 12: District police Samba in successive day today foiled attempts to smuggle bovines by arresting a bovine smuggler and rescuing 24 bovines in three separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Police Stations of Ghagwal and Samba.
Acting on reliable information regarding smuggling of bovines towards Kashmir, a police party of Police Station, Ghagwal laid a strong vehicle checking naka at NHW, Tapyal and intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK02AF-9028, which was coming from Kathua side and moving towards Valley. During checking of the vehicle, five bovines were found laden inside it without any permission. The bovines were concealed in a tactful manner to avoid being noticed by the police during checking.
The accused driver identified as Abdul Razaq, S/o Bishar Ahmed of Palai, Hiranagar, Kathua has been arrested on spot. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot.
A case FIR No. 07/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
In another incident in the jurisdiction of PS Ghagwal, a police team of PS Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking at Naka NHW Tapyal signaled to stop a vehicle without registration number coming from Kathua side. Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated the speed and tried to escape from the naka party. The alert cops successfully chased the vehicle and intercepted it a few meters away from the naka point. However driver managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness.
While checking the truck, a total five bovines were found laden inside without permission. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicles used for transporting the bovines were also seized on spot.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 08/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
A police team of PS Samba on reliable information, laid a strong vehicle checking naka at Mansar Morh and intercepted a truck having registration number JK02AK-0979 moving towards Valley. The driver on seeing police party abandoned the vehicle and fled away from the spot.
During checking of the vehicle, 14 cattle were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was seized on spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 18/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Samba and investigation started.
