J&K Forests maintain previous history, win gold in Football, Billiards, Snookers, silver in Cricket
‘Bali sets record to become only Forest Minister in country to play in Football final,
Bangalore, December 22 – On the final day of 22nd National Forest Sports Meet, which held in Bangalore, the J&K Forests maintained the previous history and won the gold medals in Football, Billiards, Snookers and silver in Cricket.
In Football, the J&K Forests defeated Goa by a margin of 2-0 goals, while as in Billiards and Snookers the games were totally dominated by the J&K Forests and clinched the finals trophies.
In Cricket, the J&K team remained runners up and won the silver medal. In other games also, the J&K done extremely well.
The main highlight of the final was that the J&K Forest Minister Bali Bhagat, who is also in Bangalore to participate in the National Forest Games, himself played in the final of Football match that was played between Goa and won by the J&K. It may be pertinent to mention that J&K maintained its tempo of winning the games like Billiards, Snookers, Football and Cricket and no team could score any goal in football against J&K. In these three games, J&K is continuously winning the gold since the inception of games i.e. in 1992.
The presence of the Minister and senior forest officers in the event boosted the moral of the players throughout the tournament, with the result the players done quite well in all the games and brought laurel for the State. The Minister congratulated the players and their coaches for the achievements in this national event. He said sports are a vital part of the Forest department which help the officials to keep physically as well as mentally fit. He said the government will further promote the sports culture in the other departments and explore possibilities to organize inter-departments and inter-State tournaments in different games.
