KISHTWAR, Oct 15: In a major drive launched against violations of traffic rules and regulations, 2193 vehicles were challaned, 114 vehicles seized, five driving licenses suspended, seven FIR Lodged at police station Kishtwar and a fine of Rs 6,15,100 imposed on the traffic violators in last two months in the district.
Disclosing this, SSP Kishtwar, Rajinder Kumar Gupta said that this was the highest penalty ever imposed in any two consecutive months. He said this has happened due to the coordinated efforts put by Kishtwar Traffic Police, MVD and Kishtwar police.
The SSP warned all the vehicles operators of the district of strictest action against the menace of overloading. He said that traffic violators are directly/ indirectly responsible for causing fatal road accidents leading to the loss of precious lives.
He appealed such parents who let their underage children to drive scooties/ motorcycles etc to refrain from such negligent acts. He further said that the drive will continue till the violators get channelized to follow the traffic rules.
The officer also got lodged an FIR at police station Kishtwar against the contractors of NHIDCL viz PWD and Dr Mehta entrusted with the task for repair and maintenance of Batote Kishtwar Sinthantop Section of NH-244 for the past havoc caused at Kuligad Slide near Thathri due to dilapidated road condition.
“Notice under Section 160 CrPC has also been issued against Managing Director, SRM Contractors Private Limited headed by Dr Sanjay Mehta. In the event of non compliance or willful disobedience, action as warranted under the law shall be initiated against these contractors”, the SSP added.
