Section 144 imposed in Srinagar as cases rise

Srinagar, Apr 27: After a spike in COVID-19 cases in Srinagar where 1144 tested positive today, the district administration banned assembly of people in the summer capital to prevent further spread of the virus.
The district administration of Srinagar today announced imposition of Section 144 CrPC within the Municipal limits of the district to prevent the virus from spreading.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Muhammad Aijaz Asad in a tweet said that Section 144 CrPc has been imposed and assembly of five or more persons banned with immediate effect.
“In view of massive spurt in positive cases in District Srinagar & after due deliberations, Section 144 CrPc is imposed hereby within the Municipal limits of the district to contain further spread of the epidemic. Assembly of five or more persons is banned with immediate effect,”the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar tweeted.
And in a major spike in COVID-19 cases in Kashmir, 2,134 people today tested positive while 10 persons died here taking the death toll to 2197.
Two persons died at SMHS hospital in Srinagar, 3 in JLNM hospital Srinagar, 4 in SKIMS and one in GMC Anantnag today. Click here to watch video
Those who died include a 20-year-old girl from Tral area of Pulwama district. She was admitted to SKIMS hospital in Soura area of Srinagar a week ago.
A 55-year-old woman from Qazigund in district Anantnag died three days after she was admitted to SKIMS Soura.
A 65-year-old man from Habak area of Srinagar died eight days after he was admitted to SKIMS Soura.
An 80-year-old man from Damhal in district Anantnag, diagnosed “HTN DM, COVID+, ARF”, was declared as brought dead at GMC Anantnag in this morning.
A 75-year-old man from Zainapora in Shopian died a day after he was admitted to GMC Anantnag after being diagnosed with “HTN t2DM and COVID positive.
A 65-year-old woman from Amrooi Karnah in Kupwara district died at JLNM Hospital Rainawari here while a 47-year-old from Suleman Tanghdar in Kupwara district died at SMHS hospital.
A 62-year-old woman from Bagh-i-Mehtab area of Srinagar also died at JLNM Rainawari.
Those who tested positive here include 1,144 from Srinagar, 197 Baramulla, 174 Budgam, 70 Pulwama, 97 Kupwara, 143 Anantnag, 123 Bandipora, 66 Ganderbal, 90 Kulgam and 30 from Shopian.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 99,715 including 84,925 recoveries and 1,354 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 22,283 including 13,436 from Kashmir division.
With 1,457 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 141,574 which is 85.25 percent of the total cases.
And amid spike in the COVID-19 cases in Kashmir, 173 areas have been declared as micro and containment zones in Valley with Srinagar having 13 containment and 47 micro containment zones.
A total of 28 areas have been declared Micro Containment Zones and Containment Zones in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district while in Shopian, Pulwama and Kulgam have three, four and eight areas respectively have been notified as Micro Containment Zones and Containment Zones.
Ganderbal and Budgam districts have 33 areas and localities that have been notified as Micro Containment Zones and Containment Zones. In Budgam, 17 areas have been declared as MCZ and CZs while in Ganderbal eight areas each have been notified as Micro Containment Zones and Containment Zones.
A total of 39 districts have been declared as Micro Containment Zones and Containment Zones with data collected revealing that 12 areas have been declared as MCZs and CZs in Kupwara district while seven and 20 areas have been notified as Micro Containment Zones and Containment Zones in Bandipora and Baramulla districts respectively.
