207 kanal forest land retrieved, 45 scants of timber seized

DODA/ UDHAMPUR, July 9: The Forest officials today retrieved 207 kanals of its land in Bhaderwah area of Doda  and Latti area of Udhampur and also seized 45 timber scants in Bhaderwah Forest Division.
Continuing its crusade against Forest land encroachers, a team of Forest officials under the supervision of DFO Bhaderwah, TB Singh retrieved 156 kanals of encroached Forest land from the possession of encroachers.
In compartment No. 53/N of Neeru Range, 40 kanals of encroached Forest land was retrieved from the possession of Mohd Shafi of Zainedab, Bhaderwah and maize crop raised on it was destroyed by the team.
In compartment No. 5/M and 6/M of Killar Range, 80.5 kanals of Forest land was retrieved from the illegal possession of 18 encroachers and Maize crop grown in. It destroyed. The encroachers showed tough resistance to the Forest officials but were over powered by the DFO? and his team. However, no one was injured in the operation.
In yet another operation 40 kanals of encroached Forest land was freed from the possession of encroachers and Maize crop destroyed on spot in compartment No. 9/ Jai of Chiralla Range. All the fencing around the encroached Forest land was removed and burnt in nallah.
Meanwhile,  another Forest  team  of  Bhaderwah, under the supervision of  DFO seized 45  scants of timber from compartment No. 46 of  Chirala Range of Bhaderwah Forest Division today.
On a specific information, the Forest party led by Range Officer Chirala raided the area and unearthed the Deodar and Kail scants hidden in the forest area. The DFO has taken cognizance of the matter.
Reports from Udhampur said that another Forest party led by RO Dudu, Surinder Natha under the direct supervision of DFO Udhampur, Harmohinder Singh conducted raid in Latti area of Dudu Range and removed encroachment from 51 kanals of Forest land in compartment No. 6-D  at Lati today.
This land had been grabbed by Mohd Ashraf, Abdul Majid, Mohd Akram, Abdul Karim, Mustafa, Rattan Lal, Moti Ram and Mandu Ram.
