2029 perform darshan, yatra resumes from Jammu

JAMMU, Aug 10: On the 40th day of the ongoing Swami Amarnathji yatra 2029 pilgrims paid obeisance to Lord Shiva at the holy cave. With this the total number of pilgrims performing darshan in holy cave since the yatra started from here on July 1 has touched 3,41983.
According to an official spokesman, 718 pilgrims left for holy cave early this morning from Baltal Base Camp. Out of them 328 left by foot while 390 left by chopper. Besides, 279 pilgrims left from Nunwan -Pahalgam Base camp via traditional Chandanwari track, he added.
He said 1026 pilgrims returned from holy cave after performing darshan today. Out of them 665 came via foot while 361 returned by chopper.
The spokesman said one BSF Jawan got injured after a fall at Rail Pathri today. He was given first aid at Baltal and his condition is stated to be stable.
The spokesman said it was raining in the cave shrine area and Baltal during the day but weather improved in the evening. He said the weather remained partially cloudy in Pahalgam and Chandanwari area.
Meanwhile the yatra from Jammu which remained suspended for last two days due to closure of National Highway after landslides near Udhampur was resumed today and a fresh batch of 673 pilgrims left from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas for holy cave early this morning under tight security arrangements.
