NAGROTA, Aug 11: “National Conference is all set to repeat its 1977 performance in 2014 elections to the Legislative Assembly and provide Jammu and Kashmir a much needed strong and stable Government”, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana said today.
“Political pundits and the analysts had to eat up their words when National Conference registered a landslide victory in the wake of the so-called Janata Party wave in 1977 despite the ailment of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah”, Mr Rana said while addressing several workers meetings in the Nagrota Assembly Constituency, adding that towering leaders like Morarji Desai and Jagjivan Ram found themselves politically dwarf during campaigning in the State while gauging the strong will of people.
The Provincial President said history is going to repeat itself and those counting numbers even before the formal announcement of elections will find their calculations going haywire. “There is nothing wrong in day-dreaming but PDP and BJP should not miscalculate the political understanding of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, who know well their hidden agenda of dividing regions in the name of region and religion”, Mr Rana maintained.
He, however, cautioned people to remain vigilant against their tentacles as they may go to any extent in pursuit of their so-called Mission+44. He asked both the parties not to remain in any illusion as people are fully aware about their tantrums which brought both Jammu and Kashmir regions to morass six years ago.
Mr Rana said that the opposition has no agenda except vitiating the political situation, as they have failed to raise the genuine public issues during the past six years. “While PDP remained in gloom for being out of power, BJP legislators got engaged in accomplishing their personal agenda”, he said adding that it was only National Conference which took upon itself to steer the state to peace and development.
“We will not deviate from this mission, as National Conference stands for inclusive and equitable development of all the three regions and their sub-regions”, he said , adding that the people were best judges to adjudge the performance of Omar led Government during the past six years. He described the Chief Minister’s first tenure in office as a success story of heralding peace across the state on the face of turbulence and pushing the agenda of development in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh with sincerity of purpose.
Speaking on the occasion, Block President Rameshwar Dutt lauded the National Conference led Government for undertaking massive development in Nagrota constituency during the past six years.
