JAMMU, Sept 15: Deputy Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar today cancelled 20 illegal mutations of more than 256 kanals of State land in villages of Nagrota, Sitni, Khanpur, Jagti, Bamyal, Dung and Marh and placed under suspension three Patwaris.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Secretary to Government Shahid Anayatullah has ordered suspension of Incharge Tehsildar Nagrota Rajesh Kumar pending enquiry into the matter in terms of J&K Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules.
He has been attached with the office of Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Farooq Ahmed looking after the work of HQA to Deputy Commissioner Jammu will look after the work of Tehsildar Nagrota till a regular arrangement is made in this regard.
Official sources said that on the basis of credible information gathered by the then Vice-Chairman of Jammu Development Authority (JDA) Rajesh Kumar Shavan an enquiry was conducted into illegal mutations of the State and JDA land in the month of April this year.
Accordingly, a detailed report was prepared and submitted to the Revenue Department for action against the involved officials. Due to political intervention strict action against the Incharge Tehsildar of Nagrota Rajesh Kumar could not be taken and he was only shifted from the post, which he challenged in the court of law.
However, facts emerged during the enquiry were shared with the then Deputy Commissioner Jammu for necessary action. Shockingly, the then Deputy Commissioner Jammu remained slept over the issue for several months despite repeated communications from the Commissio-ner/Secretary Revenue Depart-ment.
In the recent past, the Revenue Secretary dashed a communication to present Deputy Commissioner seeking to know the action taken on the findings vis-à-vis illegal mutations in several villages of Nagrota.
Acting on the findings and during detailed scrutiny of the records, present Deputy Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar noticed that 20 illegal mutations had been attested on State land measuring 256 kanals and 9 marlas in the villages of Nagrota, Sitni, Khanpur, Jagti, Bamyal, Dung and Marh.
It has also come to the fore that revenue records have been tampered to facilitate the mutations on State land. Even the mutations have been done for Gair Mumkin Choi, Jarh etc. All these mutations have been attested during the period from August 2016 to February 2018 by Incharge Tehsildar Nagrota Rajesh Kumar, three Patwaries namely Riaz Ahmed, Faquir Ahmed and Arvinder Singh.
The present Deputy Commissioner today cancelled 20 illegal mutations and placed three Patwaries under suspension with immediate effect. The Incharge Tehsildar Rajesh Kumar, who by the dint of a court order obtained stay on his transfer, was suspended by Commissioner/Secretary Reve-nue Department Shahid Anayatullah.
