Rajouri, Apr 8: In a major enforcement drive to curb rising traffic violations and ensure passenger safety, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Rajouri in collaboration with Jammu & Kashmir Police set up a joint traffic naka outside Rajouri Police Lines. During the operation, more than 20 e-autos were challaned and seized for various violations.
The naka was conducted under the supervision of ARTO Rajouri Rajesh Gupta, with active participation from SHO Rajouri and officials of both the police department and the Motor Vehicles Department, including Inspectors and Sub-inspectors.
Authorities took strict action against e-auto operators found without valid documents, driving without licenses, and those operating beyond their permitted routes. A significant number of e-autos entering Rajouri from other tehsils and running illegally were seized.
Officials stated that such unauthorized operations not only violate provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act but also pose serious risks to passenger safety.
The drive also targeted e-autos modified with extra seating and unauthorized music systems, which were found to be in violation of transport norms.
Speaking to the media, ARTO Rajouri Rajesh Gupta highlighted that the department has been receiving regular complaints regarding illegal operations of e-autos, especially those coming from outside tehsils, leading to frequent traffic congestion in Rajouri town. He reiterated that such actions are in clear violation of the Motor Vehicles Act, and assured that similar joint enforcement drives will continue in the future to maintain law and order on roads and ensure safer commuting for the public.
