DODA, Oct 5: Twenty drugs peddlers have been taken into preventive custody and lodged in District Jail.
Addressing a press conference, SSP Doda Shabir Ahmed Malik said that acting swiftly on public complaints against rising menace of drugs abuse, district administration along with Doda Police launched a major crackdown on drugs peddlers and nabbed 20 known drugs peddlers of District Doda.
The drugs peddlers, who have been nabbed and taken into preventive custody hails from Doda, Thathri, Bhalla and Bhadarwah, SSP said, adding that they were involved in multiple drugs peddling cases and stands booked under NDPS Act.
“On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Simrandeep Singh, multiple teams from Police Station Bhadarwah were activated under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Doda Iftkhar Ahmed and Additional SP Rajinder Singh, which arrested 20 known drugs peddlers from different locations”, SSP Shabir Ahmed Malik informed.
All the detained drugs peddlers have been lodged in District Jail Kishtwar by the order of DDC Doda Simrandeep Singh for a period of one month, he said, adding that these drugs paddlers use to lure teenagers to take drugs in order to make quick money. 11 cases stands registered 17 detained drugs peddlers, SSP informed.
The drugs peddlers, who have been taken into preventive custody are Yasir Ahmed, son of Abdul Majeed, Sagar Hussain, son of Mohammad Ramzan, Zaheer Ahmed, son of Mohammad Iqbal, Pervez Ahmed, son of Abdul Gani, Irshad Ahmed, son o Ghulam Mohd, Jasbir Singh, son of Nand Lal, Roshan Lal, son of Dina Nath, Usama, son of Imtaiz Ahmed, Qayoom Ahmed, son of Farooq Ahmed, Rajesh Kumar, son of Swami Raj and Aqib Javed, son of Javed Ahmed, all resident of Doda town, Babl Sahil, son of Nissar Ahmed of Village Sartingal Bhadarwah, Toib Ahasan, son of Ahsan-ul-Haq of Haveli Mohalla Bhadarwah, Narinder Kumar, son of Nardev Singh of Village Hanga Bhadarwah, Mohammad Aslam, son of Mohammad Akbar of Bhadarwah, Azam Iqbal, son of Mohammad Iqbal of Bhadarwah, Shafqat Hussain, son of Mohammad Shafi of Droundi Bhalla, Khursheed Ahmed, son of Ghulam Rasool of Shamdlain Thathri, Tariq Hussain, son of John Mohammad of Phagsoo Thathri and Waseem Akram, son of Mohammad Saleem of District Udhampur.
