KATHUA, Oct 26: Two women were killed in separate road accidents in Kathua district today.
According to police a woman was killed near Lakhanpur when she was coming from Himachal Pradesh on scooty to bless her brother on Bhaiya Dooj at village Khorate. The scooty was hit by a Tourist bus bearing Registration Number UP81CT 3952 near Lakhanpur on Jammu –Pathankot National Highway.
The scooty driver was injured. But the bus ran over the pillion rider who was killed on the spot. The body was shifted to GMC Kathua for postmortem. The deceased was identified as Neelam Devi 53, wife of Yudhbir resident of Kangra,Himachel Pradesh.
Lakhanpur police seized the bus and arrested the driver. A case in this connection was registered in the Police Station Lakhanpur under relevant sections of the law.
In another accident a woman who was driving the scooty met with an accident at village Kalyanpur on Nagari road. She succumbed to her injuries at GMC Hospital . She was identified as Pinki Devi, wife of Akshay resident of Janiyal, Punjab. Police registered a case in this connection and started investigation.
