2 women among 6 die of Corona in Jammu, 4 in Valley

JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Dec 15: Ten persons died of Coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir while 346 tested positive and 460 recovered from the virus today. Among six fatalities in the Jammu region, two were women.
Two Corona casualties each were reported from Kathua and Doda districts and one each from Jammu and Udhampur districts in Jammu region.
A 40-year-old man from Lakhanpur and 68-year-old from Dinga Amb in Kathua district died of co-morbidities and COVID-19 in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu and Narayana Hospital Katra respectively.
An 84-year-old woman from Damondha Bhaderwah and 70-year-old man from Near Masjid Sharif Nagri in Doda district died of Coronavirus at Community Health Centre (CHC) Bhaderwah and home respectively.
An 89-year-old man hailing from Talab Tillo in Jammu district died of pathogen in the GMC Jammu. A 55-year-old woman from Udhampur, presently putting up at Gangyal Jammu who was seriously injured in a road accident and had tested positive for the virus, succumbed in the GMC Jammu.
Six casualties have taken Jammu region’s Corona toll to 656 with Jammu district alone accounting for more than 50 percent at 333 followed by Doda 60, Udhampur 54, Rajouri 53, Kathua 47, Samba 34, Poonch 22, Kishtwar and Ramban 21 each and Reasi 11.
Those who died in Kashmir included an 80-year-old man from Munad Gufan in Kulgam district of South Kashmir and three from Srinagar including a 57-year-old man from Shalteng area, a 60-year-old man from Khaniyar area and a 75-year-old woman from Babdem Khaniyar area.
With these deaths, the total fatality count in J&K has reached 1812—1156 in the Valley.
In Jammu district, four couples tested positive for Coronavirus in Durga Nagar, Muthi Gaon, Lower Muthi and Panjtirthi while three members of a family reported positive in Bhagwati Nagar and siblings in New Rehari. Three positive cases each were reported from Bishnah and RS Pura and two each from Akhnoor, Dansal, Kot Bhalwal and Pallanwalla and one in Sohanjana. Five doctors tested positive across the region.
Two hundred persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu region today, 117 of them in Jammu district alone. In other districts, 22 cases were reported from Rajouri, 15 Kathua, 12 Udhampur, 11 Kishtwar, nine Samba, seven Doda, three Reasi and two each in Poonch and Ramban districts.
Of 217 persons, who recovered from the virus, 110 belonged to Jammu district, 38 Udhampur, 25 Kishtwar, 13 each Rajouri and Kathua, 12 Doda, four Poonch and two in Ramban district. Samba and Reasi districts didn’t report any recoveries.
Jammu region now has 47760 Corona cases. Among them, 44982 have recovered from the virus and there were 2122 active positives.
In Kashmir, Srinagar district with 436 deaths topped the list of Corona followed by Baramulla 169, Budgam 105, Pulwama 88, Kupwara 88, Anantnag 82, Bandipora 57, Kulgam 53, Ganderbal 41 and Shopian 37.
In Kashmir, 146 people tested positive for coronavirus taking the infection tally across J&K to 116,600.
Those who tested positive in Kashmir include 75 Srinagar, 8 Baramulla, 16 Budgam, 15 from Kupwara,   12 Pulwama, 4 Anantnag, 7 Bandipora, 6 Ganderbal, 2 Kulgam and one from Shopian.
As per officials figures, 24,391 positive cases including 436 deaths and 22,864 recoveries are from Srinagar, 7,754 including 169 deaths and 7,408 recoveries are from Baramulla, 7,343 including 6,962 recoveries and 105 deaths are from Budgam, 5,387 including 5,124 recoveries and 88 deaths are from Kupwara, 5,312 including 88 deaths and 5,057 recoveries are from Pulwama, 4,671 including 4,491 recoveries and 82 deaths are from Anantnag, 4,555 cases including 4,407 and 57 deaths are from Bandipora, 4,365 including 4,228 recoveries and 41 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,630 including 2,511 recoveries and 53 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,432 including 2,320 recoveries and 37 deaths are from Shopian.
Of the positive cases so far, the active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 4,434 including 2,312 from Kashmir division and 2,122 from Jammu division.
With 460 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 110,354 which is 94.64 percent of the total cases.
