POONCH, Sept 30: The police seized two vehicles, smuggling bovine animals to Kashmir via Mughal Road and rescued six cattle late this evening.
Reports said a police naka party near Bafliaz intercepted two mini-load carriers loaded with six bovine animals. The drivers of both the vehicles, jumped away on seeing police leaving behind vehicles and escaped under the cover of darkness.
The policemen then informed senior officers. The two police drivers were deputed to bring vehicles back to Police Station. On the way, some suspected supporters of bovine smugglers intercepted the vehicles and tried to snatch away vehicles. A few miscreants also pelted stones on the party. The policemen remained struck there for some time. Later, reinforcement was rushed and then vehicles were brought back to the Police Station. A case FIR No. 178/ 2014 has been registered in this connection. The police has launched a manhunt for the bovine smugglers.
