2 soldiers, militant killed on LoC

SRINAGAR, July 12: Army today said that two soldiers were killed in Keran sector of Kupwara district in Pakistan firing while they also foiled an infiltration bid in Uri sector killing one militant.
An Army spokesman said here that Pakistan violated ceasefire in Farkian Gali in Keran sector of North Kashmir this afternoon and targeted Balbir Post. He said that two Army personnel of 3 JAKRIF were killed in the firing. They have been identified as Lance Naik Ranjit Singh of Burn village in Bhalwal in Jammu and Rifleman Satish Bhagat of village Gurhasinghu in Shamachek area of Jammu.
Sources said that Pakistani troops targeted the two soldiers in the forward area from close range from across the LoC. They said that the Army retaliated in the area.
In the meantime, Army foiled an infiltration bid along the LoC in Dulanga area of Uri sector killing one militant.
Sources said that Army noticed suspicious movement of a group of militants near the fence in Dulanga area of Uri sector on July 9 and carried out a massive operation during which they challenged the militant group.
The searches continued in the area and Army today saw body of a militant lying near the fence. The other members of the group have managed to flee back to the PoK.
