2 Poonch labourers reach home from HP on bicycles

POONCH, Apr 2: Two labourers of Mandi, Poonch who were working in Himachal Pradesh reached home today after travelling on bicycles for seven days. Shabir Ahmed, son of Fateh Mohd and Mohd Farooq, son of Mohd Din, both residents of Chikhri Mandi had been working at Jawala Mukhi in Himachal Pradesh from past 2 months.
They said that they were not in a position to survive without food and stepped forward to reach home.
They further said that they were not allowed to arrange four wheeler and hired bicycles for travelling, adding the journey was difficult but they had no other option.
They further said that they had nothing to eat and asked people for food and drink en-route their journey of around 650 kilometers.
“There are numerous other labourers like us who are at the verge of starving due to the lack of food for survival,” They maintained.
The duo requested the District Administration Poonch in general and Deputy Commissioner Poonch in particular to intervene personally in the matter and evacuate them for their safe retrieval.
