RAJOURI, Apr 4: While foiling a bid of illicit liquor smuggling, the police arrested two persons with consignment in a vehicle from Manjakote area of Rajouri today.
Official sources said that on April 3, 2021, a team headed by Sub Divisional Police Officer Manjakote, DySP Tanveer Jeelani during routine vehicle checking in Manjakote on Jammu-Poonch highway intercepted a vehicle with registration No. JK12A/ 7348 for checking. The police party found consignment of liquor in the vehicle.
The vehicle was seized on the spot and two persons travelling in it have been arrested. They were identified as Arif Beig, resident of Gohlad in Mendhar and Azam Hussain, resident of Sarhoti, Mendhar.
Police said that 26 bottles of liquor with 750 ml quantity each and 12 units of 500 ml liquor each have been recovered. An FIR No. 38/2021 under relevant sections of the Excise Act has been registered in Police Station Manjakote and investigation is underway.
