Srinagar, Feb 2: Authorities today airlifted two newborn babies, along with three other patients, from snow-bound Karnah in North Kashmir to Kupwara for specialized treatment.
One of the newborns was 4 days old, while the other was just 10 days old, both admitted at SDH Karnah and requiring further treatment.

With the main road inoperative due to the accumulation of snow, officials stated that shifting them through the road was not possible.
“They needed to be shifted to Kupwara, considering the urgency and requirement. Apart from the newborns, there was also a stroke patient who required immediate transportation,” said SDM Tangdhar, Dr. Gulzar Ahmad.
He mentioned that internal roads in the area have been cleared of snow, but the highway remains closed due to the avalanche warning.
“A total of 10 people, including patients and their attendants, have been airlifted. We will attempt to organize another sortie to facilitate the shifting of those in need.”
