SAMBA, Aug 16: In its drive against drug smugglers and their propagators, District Police Samba has arrested two Punjab based narcotics smugglers and recovered 101.25 kgs of poppy straw (Bhukki) at police naka NHW Rakh Barotian in the jurisdiction of PS Vijaypur.
A police party of PS Vijaypur headed by SHO, PS Vijaypur Inspector, Om Parkash under the supervision of SDPO Vijaypur, Lov Karan Taneja while performing vehicle checking duty at naka Rakh Barotian, NHW signalled a truck bearing Registration Number PB11BY-6580 to stop which was coming from Jammu and moving towards Punjab.
On questioning by Naka party, both the driver and his associate gave unsatisfactory reply to which the police team smell something unwarranted being transported in the vehicle. As the police proceed for vehicle checking, both driver and his associate tried to run away leaving behind the vehicle. On this police chased them and apprehended both who have disclosed their identity as Parwinder Singh alias Nikku son of Jagdeep Singh of Village Sirhand, tehsil Payal district, Ludhiana Punjab and Pushpinder Kumar alias Sony son of Ganeshwar Dev of Dalan Patti Tehsil Malerkotla district Sangrur Punjab.
During checking of the vehicle, a total of 14 plastic bags containing poppy straw (Bhukki) weighing around 101.25 Kg recovered from the truck.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 131/2021 U/S 8/15/29 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Vijaypur and further investigation started
